I would like to know how much my pension is worth
To see how much your pension is worth, youâll need to log in to your pension account. If you havenât registered yet youâll need your National Insurance number handy to sign up. Once logged in, youâll have a number of options available to you:
Annual benefit statement
Your annual benefit statement is a statement detailing the value of your pension benefits at 31 March each year. It also gives you information about what would be paid to your family, if you die in service, and an estimate of what pension youâd get at your normal pension age, based on what you currently earn.
You can view your statement by logging in to your account , at the top of this page.
Once logged in, click the ‘Benefit statements’ option found under ‘Pension benefits’, on your dashboard.
Youâll be able to see all your future statements on your pension account, from 31 August each year. All statements from 2015 onwards will be available for you to look at by logging into your account.
You wonât get a paper copy of your statement unless you let us know that youâd like to opt out of electronic communications.
Pension estimate
If youâd like something more up to date, you can get an estimate of your retirement benefits as many times as you like, directly from your pension account.
With our benefit projectors you can check your pension immediately, at the touch of a button, from any location. No e-mails; no post; just information direct to your screen, giving you a quick, convenient and secure way to check your retirement benefits.
You can use our ‘Benefits projector’ to:
- calculate the current value of your pension benefits
- run ‘what if?’ scenarios using different retirement dates and earnings
- see what frozen benefits youâd have, if you left without retiring
- see what your family will get if you die whilst an active member
Using your computer, phone or tablet, simply log into your account at the top of this page. Once youâve logged in, click the ‘Benefit projectors’ option found under ‘Pension benefits’, on your dashboard.
If you need a paper copy of your pension estimate, please fill in a âMember estimate request formâ, on the âForms and resourcesâ page of our website.
Paper estimates are limited to one request per year and will only be given where the relevant date for the estimate is within 12 months of the request. If the date is more than 12 months away, youâll need to use the benefit projector.
If youâre thinking about planning your retirement, the Local Government Penson Scheme (LGPS) have put together a guide to help you with all the things you may want to think about before you retire. You can find a copy on the âForms and resourcesâ page of our website under the âBooklets and factsheetsâ heading.
